Default Exhaust Ideas Performance Discussion

This is an incomplete list of some of the general exhaust mod ideas...
Cherry bomb, glasspack
Dual pipes
Flowmaster 40
Super 44
Delta
Magnaflow
Muffler Delete, cutting off the muffler
Straight Pipe
Dumped

Deciding on what do to with mine down the road(currently stock), and alot in deciding is based on sound preference(loud, deep, throaty, rumble, obnoxious, ricer...whatever your preference may be)

Aside from that, what does anybody have to say on the performance enhancements of any of these ideas. Such as MPG, HP, good, bad, which is better or worse, etc...

Just curious. I dont think it will affect my decision when i finally make it. But ya never know.

You won't see a lot of difference in MPG or HP from a bolt-on catback. You'll change the sound and could have a nicer looking system. But power or mileage change will be negligible.

Watch the material on the systems you're looking at. Some are a high temp paint over steel, some are aluminized steel, some are full stainless, and there are different grades like T409 and T303. Stainless will hold up the longest.

My best advice is to listen to sound clips and vids. Find what you like as far as sound and go that route. The sound will be the biggest change a new exhaust system will make on a Ranger.

I appreciate the input. Ive looked at alot of videos in the official thread and read and youtubed and all that. I was just more curious if anyone had input about the performance, and you have pretty much answered my inquiry.

Thanks a bunch!
