Default 2.3L Stock-ish Exhaust

Hey guys. I've currently got a 2002 Ranger with a 2.3 sitting in my driveway (long story, I'll start an intro thread somewhere). Anyway, the previous owner cut the muffler off and most of the piping after the resonator. So it's just: downpipe, cat, resonator and 3 inches of pipe after the res. The stock exhaust is 2.5" right? I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of money on this truck as it's pretty beat up and will be used as a work truck and right now it sounds like a burner , and that's not good. Any good suggestions on a quiet muffler? Also, would it be feasible to just put the muffler where he cut the pipe (4 inches after the res) or should I buy more pipe?? Thanks.
