I think he is looking at totally redoing the system after the headers..

Oh no he didn't did he? Tell me he didn't buy a CAI? If he did I'm disapointed in him.

I have a 3.0L Flex Ranger, recently installed Magnaflow catback system. This is not a true dual exhaust but the tail pipes are dual exit at the back and wow does it sound great. At idle it bubbles like a V-8. I am extremely happy with it.

True duals is a bad idea. It is so tight down there you would have to run small pipe. The small pipe will make it poppy and rappy sounding. Besides, if you put in an "x" pipe, then its not true duals.... I would recommend running the headers, the y-pipe that comes with the headers, a 3" pipe into a muffler then dual out from there. I my self built 5 different exhaust for my 97 before I got the sound that I wanted and something that sounded decent.
