Default Homemade Black "Gas" Pipe Headers?

I was wondering would the black "gas" pipe you can get at the hardware stores like homedepot, menards, or ace hardware would work if using a pipe bender to bend the pipe into the header configuration for a 4.0L V-6?

Also were could I get the "Header Flange" that mounts to the engine, so I can weld my bent tubing to?

you want to hand make headers? That sounds like a lot of work for probably no benefit, and would probably have adverse affects.

Yeah I like 2 work w/ metal, I'm gettin' a degree In Tool&Die as of now, and took 2 years of welding at a community college. I can run HAAS 3-Axis CNC Mills, Manual Lathes, Bridgeport Mills, EZ-Trac Mills, etc.

Do you know were I could get the flanges for the actual headers?

you could run with a slip fit connections, which would be easiest. Basically just taper the collectors on the headers a bit so they slide into the y pipe, then just clamp them with U-clamps.

Thats a good Idea man! also do you know were I could get the flanges that I bolt directly to the engine block, so I can weld the header pipes to?

I would NOT use black Iron to make headers...black iron is ment to run gas through....Not really ment for High heat Applications.....trust me I would know im a plumber, also..black iron does not hold up well to any sort of condensation or water...your better off buying the proper stuff to make a set of headers

----------

Ontop of that....Good luck bending 1" or 1 1/4" black iron easily lol shits damn near 1/4 Inch Thick!....lol..I spend all day cutting and threading black pipe by hand!

Dude, seriously?

Exhaust piping is CHEAP. Go buy a stick and have fun man but don't use gas line. I install/remove that stuff 2 days a week, I've seen it split/crack/splinter/ etc, don't do it

I recomemd getting a summit racing weld up header kit. This is the way to go and plus lmctruck.com would have the exhaust manifolds for the ranger.

that'll melt. schedule 80 would be much better, and is threaded so you can just thread on connectors to make any angle you want.
