Default What can be done to increase MPG?

I recently acquired a '06 4L 4x4 Ranger and was wondering what could be done with the exhaust to improve MPG. I'm not interested in sound, just the outcome.

Thanks!

I imagine an exhaust could acquire a few HPs more however, or is that a myth as well

well if you dump it you could a save a little bit of weight and maybe see a .01-.3% increase in mpg

Only way you would see a possible gain. New headers and in a tuner with dual exhaust and your probbably looking at 1-2 mpg gain.

However that is all gonna be in the ballpark of $800 based on what tuner you get.

I calculated the MPG on a recent 125 mile trip to be about 18MPG with mixed city and highway miles.

I realize this is already quite decent especially since it's a Sport model w/ larger all terrain wheels, but with the gas prices today and the rate of fuel increases, I'm looking to squeeze out every mile I can.

Don't take my word for this but I've seen this work in a dodge and a jeep but if you remove the fan that's being powered by the engine and install a electric fan it should get you some extra mpg. Still I'm not 100% on that so do your research.

It will increase it a little, but it's not a drastic change.

Why do you have two threads on the same subject?

Sorry, I started off just asking about exhaust, then figured it may be better to get broader info in the general forum.
