2.3L 4cyl. Recommended exhaust?
I want to put an aftermarket exhaust on my 2001 ranger xlt 2.3 4cyl to add a little power and a better exhaust sound.
I have been listening to youtube clips and a lot of people add the Flowmaster 40 series, a few add flowmaster super 44 series, and there are random other ones. What sounds the best? My friend has a Ford f150 5.4 liter v8 with a k&n cai and super 44 series and it sounds fantastic.
What do yall recommend for my truck?
If you guys have any clips of your own trucks (specifically the 2.3L) with custom exhaust I'd appreciate if you'd post them. Thanks.

Re: 2.3L 4cyl. Recommended exhaust?
My apologies but that thread doesn't really help people with the 4cylinder motor. I'm looking for an exhaust with a nice note, a idle that isn't too loud, and one without a lot of highway drone. My friend has the super44 on his 5.4 f150 but I dont think itll be the same on my ranger. My dad has a good setup on his trd tacoma 4cylinder, but im not going to put a toyota exhaust on my ford.
Come on 4banger ranger owners. Help me out!
-thanks

Just be aware that it will not help your mpg or performance.

Re: 2.3L 4cyl. Recommended exhaust?
Cutoff haha That's what I'm running on my 4.0, and it sounds beastly. Might be a little on the loud side for you, and has a lot of highway drone since it lets out right under the cab.

Re: 2.3L 4cyl. Recommended exhaust?
Not necessarily. A catback exhaust opened up a size larger than stock with a SI/SO free flow muffler and exited at the stock location is about right for a 2.3.
