Post A little different twist on the normal exhaust ?s

1992 ford ranger stx 4x4 4.0l - looking to replace the headers and everything else, but i do not want loud. I want super quiet as this is going to be my hunting truck. Any ideas? I was looking at the ceramic coated headers to reduce temps under the hood. Even thought about putting offset back to back mufflers. Don't if it would work or not and don't know if it would effect how the truck runs. Thought about makeing the back muffler a duel outlet just for the look of duels. Any thoughts and ideas would be helpful.

so are you looking to get more power out of it? is that the reason for wanting an exhaust?

look into the flowmaster hushpower stuff, also the magnaflow stuff seems to be a bit quieter in general.

You could do a Flowmaster Hushpower and also byt a res cone at the collector of the headers

Exclamation Re: A little different twist on the normal exhaust ?s

Update : While working on replaceing the clutch plate i noticed that the catalytic converter was cut off of this truck. In fact it was one of the first things i noticed when i climbed up under it. I've never had to replace one so i didn't know how much they cost. After doing some checking this morning on the net i am questioning if i even want to put one on. Florida doesn't have any of those stupid emmission laws and checks so i do not have to worry about that, but if i do not put them back on what will it do to the sound and what about the o2 sensor. Right now i only see one o2 sensor on the y pipe, but i also do not know if one is supposed to go on after the cat. Again i am trying to keep this thing as quiet as possible.

if you dont do emissions i would leave the cat off. shouldint hurt the o2 sensor, i hollowed the one on my monte carlo out when it clogged up and so far all i've noticed no differance other than it's not a compleate dog anymore. both o2 sensors have been uneffected.

also from what i've been told the farther away from the engine you mount the muffler, the quieter it'll be.
