Default Exhaust suggestions

hey everybody. my names chris i just joined the forums about 5 minutes ago. i am kinda in a hurry bcuz i have to get out and mow before it starts raining.

im wondering wat everyone would suggest for an exhaust system for my 04 ford ranger 4.0 v6 (manual). i would like the sound to be smooth and not all raspy. as far as loudness goes i dont want it super loud but i would like a nice rumble to it.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Go JBA Catback and don't look back, ever.

I got mine about 3 years ago. I absolutely LOVE it. It is still holding up great, very hospitable on the highway and city driving, deep rumble during mid/heavy throttle. Tip is 3" and I've never had mine get in the way for anything.

What is your price range? Because JBA is way overpriced for what you get IMO. Magnaflow and flowmaster are used for a majority across the board. You will never get the throaty v8 sound, but you will get a nice rumble. I run the original flowmaster 40. Love it, have it dumped since I don't want to worry about messing up some expensive piping and tips.

dont really have a price range. just wantin to know wat setups would give me a nice deep rumble that is smooth not raspy. i know it wont be deep like a v8 or anything (or could it) though it would be nice.

best bet would probably be a flowmaster super 44 then. check youtube for clips of ranger exhausts. give ya a little better feel for different sounds out there.

I still like a little rumble in the exhaust.
2 years ago I took my truck to a local exhaust shop to get the system opened up from the cats back, it is now 2 1/4" with a truck muffler that isn't quite straight threw.

It really helped the performance, and probably the mileage, if I could keep my foot off the throttle.
Any way, it is all welded, and cost $110 including tax.
Ohhhh, I miss the days of the burned out cherry bombs.

JBA is not too expensive. Mine was only $220. That was with the exhaust gasket I had to buy to put in with the kit. 2 1/2 in and out with a 3" tip. Tip is polished stainless steel and cat-back to tip is stainless steel. Like I said absolutely supurb. To hear the JBA sound visit their homepage. I would also recommend the 50 Series Delta Flow(Flowmaster) if you are looking for something very quiet with a low deep rumble while on gas. I had one on a 3.0 V6 and it turned heads. I'd love to hear how the 4.0 improves the sound over the 3.0 in the 50 series. Both are highway friendly and headache free.

Flowmaster Super 44!!!!!!!! Good sound with a better exhaust flow... only thing is, it is a 4 inch case and if you put it in stock location your risk grinding it against the driveline. It has to lay horizontal under the chassis next to the driveline.
