Default 97 Ranger 2.3L

Just found out I need to replace entire exhaust from engine back. Catalytic converter completly blocked. Looking at $1,300 from a local shop. Sound excessive? Any advice on lowering the costs?

$1300? That sounds like a MIDAS price.

I suggest doing it yourself. buy a can of pb blaster, the replacement kit, and spray all the nuts and bolts that are gonna need removed. Then go have a beer, or something so the stuff can do its magic. Then hook up the air compressor and impact and remove the bolts and nuts, and take it out in sections starting at the back working forward, and to install do it in reverse. Might take a few hours and some grunting, but it will also save you a ton of money, and who doesn't like doing that.
