Exhaust system
So im thinking bout doing my exhaust system but dont know what set up i want, i know i want to be able to sneak up to places, but when i stomp on it for it to be heard and sound good, most definately do not want it to sound like a pissed off bumble bee

Re: Exhaust system
I've been looking at the MagnaFlow cat back. You can hear it on a 4.0 Explorer at their website. Don't know anyone with it though, but I'm willing to bet it's pretty awesome.

Re: Exhaust system
flowmaster has the 60 series - supposedly it is excellent for 6cyl engines; loud enough outside and quiet inside. They have a video of an import running with 60 series, but it is hard to judge.

Re: Exhaust system
I was told at a muffler shop that putting a flow-master muffler would add 10 to 15 more hp to my 3.0l engine. I am interested in better mpg. as well as more hp but this sounds far fetched. Please advise.

Re: Exhaust system
that is far fetched. The Ranger exhaust breaths well for what it is. Expect no gain in power, especially with a Flowmaster (they arent called Slowmaster or Blowmaster for nothing). Swap out a muffler purely for the sound you want.

Re: Exhaust system
I recommend a flowmaster for sure, not necessarily quiet but it doesn't sound like a rice rocket that way. I have a 60 series which has a nice roar but is not obnoxious when driving like the super 44

Re: Exhaust system
Depends on the application. They are traditional style mufflers and often do not provide any increase on power over stock. On fbodies, we can see 10rwhp with a good catback, often times you see/hear results of flowmaster catbacks giving no gain or reducing power; though the latter is rare.

Re: Exhaust system
if you just put the muffler on, dont expect an increase in power on any muffler lol, but if you do a whole exhaust system you better damn well expect an increase lol

Re: Exhaust system
whole exhaust would include, imo; headers, high flow cats, mandrel bent tubing and muffler. a catback isnt a full exhaust really though

Re: Exhaust system
I did the flowmaster 40 and dumped it. It has a low rumble to it, I was hoping for a little louder but it sounds good when you get on it

Re: Exhaust system
yes sir! and it sounds like a v8 at idle, but it isn't very loud at idle after it warms up. on a cold start it roars. but when you get on the gas it sounds beast.
