for the last 3 people who posted: this thread was started nearly a year ago. I'm sure the engine has been replaced or the entire truck replaced!

It a 1983. 2.8L i bet? Its probably leaking everything everywhere. My old one, i could pour the oil in the top and practically watch it come out the bottom as was pouring it in. had to use 20W-50 weight oil just to keep some of it in the block. Transmission fluid would start pushing out of the transmission if I went faster than 65mph.

for anyboby who wants to know.....

take the oil dip stick out when the engine is running. put you thumb over the hole.( dont worry no oil can come least not enough to burn you) with your thumb there make sure no air is trying to come out of the dip stick hole. only way air can come out of the dip stick hole is for air to be going in to the oil crank case. only way air gets in there is bad piston rings......... really useful for cheaking out used cars........
