Default Cat back for 09 4.0

I've been trying to do some research on my new 09 FX4, I wanted to do a K&N cold air sys and maybe the Gibson cat back dual but some say reducing the back pressure will cause some premature wear. Anyone have thoughts or done this?

I don't see why it would affect it

what premature wear is it gonna cause?

I have a aftermarket car back exhaust and nothing has gone wrong with 4 years of use

I read somewhere that not enough back pressure would unseat the oil rings on the pistons obviously causing it to use oil, now I am old school and never of such a thing however that doesn't make me right. I just want to get it right the first time

I have never heard anything like that either. If you go with pipes that have a diameter that's too large, you'll lose back pressure and therefore some low end power, but it's not going to actually hurt anything. There a LOTS of guys who run 2.5" pipe. I've heard in a few places that's as large as you should go with the 4.0 Ranger.

Ya like Jay said you keep the same diameter pipe no loss of back pressure would stay the same then
