Super 44, not impressed
I had my 4.0 v6 straight piped for a while and it was unbolted right under the cab so i got tired of all the noise i could hear inside when driving so i bought a flowmaster super 44. Ive heard it was great and deep and everything but right now i have it clamped on with an extension pipe from under the cab to about 3 feet back and a turndown on the end of the muffler. To me it sounds like a noisy stock muffler. I've had it about a week and Im wondering if its not broken in yet or what...? also it sounds like some air isnt getting to the muffler or something..kinda like its blowing out air or leaking but the clamps are as tight as they can be and the muffler isnt broken. Let me know what I can do to make it deeper and what I can do about what sounds like a leak in between pipes....
thanks

Re: Super 44, not impressed
Give it more time.... Mine took almost 2 weeks before it finally broke in. I think you also may be expecting too much. You had the truck dumped after the last cat for a while.....that right there is the loudest and shittiest sounding it'll ever be. Not to mention it's also a gutless wonder fuel hog that way as well.
It's leaking because you're using clamps. I assume the U-bolt type ones?? Not band clamps? Weld it for best results. Also, pipes when slip-fit, are meant to "sweat" meaning they try and seal themselves during their heat cycles.

Re: Super 44, not impressed
Alright ill give it some time and eventually weld it. I think its starting to get a little deeper anyway.
And yes they are the u bolt clamps.
Any idea why I smell exhaust each time i get out of the truck

Re: Super 44, not impressed
You need to run the pipe out the back and put a big 3 or 3.5" tip on the back

i have mine dumpped and i smell it it could be ur u bolts are not tight enough or well ur muffler is right in the middle of ur truck like mine and not out the back so the exsaust fumes stay under the bed and u smell it when u stop

Go with a 4 inch tip. Acts like a megaphone. ie: makes it louder.
