Default performance exhaust

I'm looking for recommendations for a performance exhaust and cold air intake for the 4.0 engine. I'm trying to boost my gas mileage.
My truly beautiful Blue 2003 Ford Ranger XLT Extended Cab FX4 Stepside with a towing package.

Gibson, Borla, Magnaflow are all good mufflers. A K&N drop in filter should take care of the other end.

I have a aero turbine muffler and i love it. its a well known name by racers and such
2001 ford ranger XLT/4.0 sohc./160,000
Mods:Cb/recon third brake light/air silencer mod/new door speakers and h/u / shorty console, 245-75-16 goodyear wrangler duratracs on rock crawler rims. hellas and 03 honeycomb grille.

An exhaust and filter upgrade wont boost MPG by very much, you could get a lighter exhaust system and K&N drop in filter should have better air flow that should bump up mpg a little, but these wont do very much

You won't get no "boost" in mpg's.... best mpg booster is your right foot habit.

But....for economy, magnaflow or a dynomax ultra flo oval are very flowy mufflers. I'd get exhaust done by a local shop....usually ends up alot cheaper than a bolt-on kit plus it'll be exactly how you want it not how someone chose how you'd want it. bang for the buck is by adding a tuner like an SCT Xcal2 or Xcal3 from Rogue Performance. Intake/exhaust won't do much if any in terms of mpg if alone.....advantanges start comin' with tune. And FYI: stock intakes are already CAI's.
'01 XLT disguised as a '03 Fx4 Level II.

HaHaHa--The old "I need a new exhaust system 'cause it'll help my gas mileage" story--I've used that one a couple of times with my wife--I think she's on to me now.
Luckily, she digs the rumble! Best gas saver in a Ranger is laying off of the skinny pedal; a tuner would help a lot-like Shane said. I've got intake/exhaust/tuner/heavy right foot, get around 20 MPG driving mostly highway.
