Unhappy WOW. California Emissions System...

So my truck was originially sold in Californai. The original equipment list shows something called California Emissions System. So I crawl under my truck to look anything strange. I count 5 cats!!! 2 on the downpipe from the left header. 1 on the downpipe from the right header. These two downpipes are (i believe) completely seperate and go into what is looks like a massive cat (size of a muffler!, then about 4" of pipe with an o2 sensor and another massive cat!!!

Im assuming this is different than everyone who doesnt have a California truck I dont think I can take off the 2 massive cats because wont the o2 sensor that it uses screw things up if its omitted?

any one familiar with this set up?

just cut out the cat and use a spark plug no fouler on the o2 sensor to fool it into thinking the ratio is right or you can just get a o2 bypass

heres a link to how to do the non-fouler thing

I would have to some how omit the 02 sensor. looks like this. You cant just cut out one cat. or take them out. youd have to some how make something that joins into the seperate down pipes from the headers. What do regular set ups look like? Heres mine..

Looks like your Y-pipe consists of small cat on left, normal sized right side cat and fatty ass cat one.
My stock setup's Y-pipe consists of the right side normal size cat.

Your diagram is the same as my truck or almost any v6 up to '04ish when they changed the cat designs. Except my non-California truck has two cats on the Y pipe....your diagram shows 3 but notes only 2? I have a O2 sensor in both banks of the Y pipe forward of the cats as well(not noted in diagram).

The last O2 sensor is not a dummy...it actually does stuff. But I've always questioned that because my buddy Trevor's '01 4.0 last sensor wasn't even plugged in an it threw no codes at all.

I did not mark any of the other o2 sensors, im sure theyre there tho lol. but that is exactly what i see 2 on left one on right and two fatty cats. (minus the o2 sensors).

I'll bet if you crawl under any U.S.-spec Ranger of the same year with the same engine, the cat setup will be identical. Removing a cat that is in good working condition will not buy you anything.

My concern isnt the amount of cats, as I am sure I can find a y pipe with less cats or get a high flow one if its out there (i think i saw magnaflow had one dunno though), its just the 02 sensor i noted in my diagram, i dont want it to be messing stuff up if i take it out.
