Default Ford ranger 4.0 V6 Exhaust

I want to put either a new muffler or some glass packs on the truck. Any suggestions for just a muffler swap, not a complete exhaust system. Also if anyone has a muffler for sale or laying around I would be willing to buy it or trade something I have for sale for it.

Thrush welded is a good replacement

How did you do it just cut the muffler off and put pipe in place?

Went to a local exhaust shop and had them cut the flowmaster dual system off and weld me a new pipe from the cat back to a 4" tip

So what I am planning to do is cut the muffler and get a piece of pipe to replace where the muffler was. If the size of the exhaust pipe is 2.5 what size pipe do I need if I'm just gonna clamp it?

You're gonna have to measure the tailpipe to be sure but 2.5 kinda sounds right. Measure the outside diameter (OD) and get a pipe the same size. I just straight piped my jeep and its got a 2.25" OD and I put a 2.5" OD (roughly 2.25" ID) and it slid right over and I got 2.5" clamps and clamped it. Ignore the shitty welds. I straight piped my 150 before I had my BlackWidow muffler welded in and it was my first time welding.

The thing is that my truck has a factory tip on it that is bigger than the exhaust piping. And I want to learn to weld so bad! So I don't know the difference between a good and bad weld ha.

Oh also did you see a change in low end torque like people talk about? Or does that only happen with removing the cats?

Default Ford ranger 4.0 V6 Exhaust

I noticed no difference on my 05 but I didn't go from factory to no muffler. It had a dual flowmaster system on it when I bought it.
On my Jeep I noticed no difference.
Usually you feel a difference when you delete the cats.

Okay that's all I was worried about I just wanted to make sure the low end torque would be fine. Thanks
