Glasspacks are cheap, and if you get 2.5 pipe out or duals it wont sound so much as a 16 second civic. Also make sure its a long one too, short ones sound ricey.

it wont sound good at all unless you get headers as well. if you get headers, it would sound pretty good.

I have a 93 with the 4 cylinder, I removed the cat, and put a cherrybomb glasspack with a 3 inch turndown, love the sound, and it doesn't sound like a ricer

i say for best sounds either dump it underneath after the cab or side exit before the rear wheel. and if you want to get some HP gains then try to have as few of bends as possible, if you can afford it, a mandrel bent pipe is the best. the 40 should sound good wherever you put it though.

less bends= less restriction= more HP gains. "dump" is a term for having a turndown tip on the exit pipe right after the muffler and having the exhaust exit right before the rear axle. you cant "un-weld", you'll have to cut it and re-weld it or get u-clamps and clamp it. mandrel bending is where a snake-tube is inserted into the pipe and the pipe is bent with it inside so it retains its full diameter on bends as well. i personally just like how the side-exit looks and im doing mine that way once i redo mine. you can do how ever you like im just trying to give some advice!

ohhh alright. great explaination man. thanks alottt! i think i may get it redone soon to make it a bit louder and get more hp like u said. cuz the 40 series sounds nice.. but i guess with stock piping its just not loud at all... and yeah that shiet looks really sick when it comes out b4 the rear axles. i may consider that if i have enough room.
thx alot for help

A) You won't get any noticable(if any at all) hp gains from an aftermarket exhaust, just will sound nice and open the engine up to the possibility of more hp if you add power adders. (turbos, superchargers, nos, etc...) Yeh you still want to have as few bends as possible and nothing to extreme just like the factory exhaust to keep from losing power and don't go extreme with size. On a single in, single out 2.5" is as large as you need, single in dual out go 2.5/2.25.

B)People swear by flowmasters on this site and others(think their overprices and overused hyped, plus they weren't loud enough for me. its not just your stock piping), I dared to be different and went with a Cherrybomb Extreme. I LOVE it and its nice to be different. Nice deep sound at idle, and sounds great when you stand on the throttle. Their turbo sounds great as well just not as aggressive.

C) You don't need headers to make it sound good. YES they make them for V6s, they evevn have them for I4s and heck even V-twins and flat 4s for that that matter. If you do get them, JBA makes them for your engine. Get the ceramic coated ones, they should help keep the engine compartment cooler.

D) If you have it done at a shop odds are it will be mandrel bent. If you try and bend exhaust pipe without a mandrel bender or dedicated exhaust pipe bender(stretches pipe as it bends) it will most likely crush.

wow great responce man. and thanks for ur time to do it. i know it wasnt giving me any really horsepower 5 at the most... but i thought it would of sounded wayyy better.. i may just try less bends and new piping first. mine is a 2.5 in and out. and if that doesnt make it louder i may try an extreme or somthing. i just couldnt find one at the autoparts store and didnt even wanna pay for the flowmaster.. but so many told me cherrybomb sounded like ricer.. so i said fuck that and got the flowmaster. btw how muhc is a cherrybomb extreme?
and thanks again..
