My "done in my garage" dual exhaust
I decided I wanted duals on my truck awhile back (for the looks more than anything else) so I did this system at home.
I used Heartthrob 2 1/4" tailpipes which I had to shorten and weld a 45 piece on the end to get the tips to exit at a 45. The tips are Jones stainless 3.5" x 18" weld on tips, both of which have a short piece of 2 1/4" ID pipe welded to them so I could clamp them on (I'm very anal about tip evenness and rotation).
I originally had a sort of Flowmaster knockoff on there but I didn't like the sound...currently working on putting in a Y pipe, splitting to two Thrush Turbo mufflers and out the tailpipes. It's almost done, just have to add one more hanger for the mufflers. Will post pics of that as well if anyone is interested.
Anyway here's the pics, and if anyone was curious as to what 3.5"x18" tips would look like on your ranger, here you go. They work great for a rear 45 exit if the pipes they're attaching to are inside the leaf springs.

Eh, sorry, there's no vid. It sounded like any other 4.0 SOHC with a 2 chamber honestly, just a little quieter than a regular 40 series (but not much).
It was alright at idle and not bad revving, but driving around with the auto shifting up and down all the time it sounded bad and annoyed the hell out of me. I might do a vid with the turbo mufflers if I like it.
I've been trying to finish it up, figuring out hangers for the two mufflers has been kind of a bitch, but it's close.

Re: My "done in my garage" dual exhaust
Got my dual muffler setup finished today
I made this y pipe out of a straight section of 2.5" pipe, no bends used (pardon the ugly welds and out of focus picture)
So I used a modified Dynomax hanger and made an extra for the rear of the mufflers. I used two Thrush Turbos.
Tried to take a video with my phone earlier but the sound was all distorted. It sounds real mellow, nice little rumble at idle and pretty reasonable throughout the RPM range. Pretty much just what I was looking for.

That'll work, but not dual exhaust, and why not use 1 muffler, DI/SO ?

Sorry. SI/DO ?

It was actually cheaper to buy these two mufflers and make the y pipe than to order another si/do muffler. Plus, I already had the dynomax hanger and figured I could make it work.
Anyway, I don't have a ton of time in it, spent maybe 3 hours making the y pipe, the rest was mostly fitment stuff and figuring out that rear hanger.

Re: My "done in my garage" dual exhaust
Well these mufflers kinda suck in that the flow tubes neck down to 2" diameter or possibly less...but I haven't noticed any issues, power feels good.
