Default *Thrush welded muffler reviews??

Hello all,

just wondering if anyone has a thrush welded muffler installed on their ranger or know of someone who does. Just curious how it sounds, they go for cheap so if they sound alright i'm going to snag one. looking for a nice deep rumble but not to loud on the highway. i have a 6cyl 4.0.

Thanks

Have a great day!!

They sound good but are a little loud depending on if you dump it under the cab or run a tail pipe.

i think i want to run a tailpipe all the way to the back. why does everyone like to dump them at the wheel or before?

I have one on my jeep cherokee. 4.0 straight 6 that's bored .60 over. It's dumped. Sounds good on my jeep and is holding up. Jeeps a mud truck. Doesn't help any for sound. But durability helps.

still not 100% sure what bored and .60 over means. I'm guessing bored means the engine is tuned? and no clue on the .60. sorry, not a huge mechanic myself, sound, suspension, and body i can do though. haha.

This. Before I had it the motor was hydrolocked and bored and rebuilt. It's bullet proof. It has overheated more times then I can count. Because of jeeps crappy cooling system. Full new stock replacement parts fixed that all.

Part of the reason the motor over heats is when you bore the cylinder walls over what the factory spec's are you're thinning the wall's where the coolant water travels so the internal heat of the engine warms the coolant past it's useful purpose of cooling the motor off. .060 over is pretty extreme in engine building terms,. 030 is about the safe limit.

Just got one installed on mine. Sounds pretty damn good with a nice little growl. Kind of reminds me of Simba.

Just wish I went dual, but oh well it's a 3.0.

I have a thrush welded on my 4.0 now with a full tailpipe. It sounds good for a $40 muffler. I ran it dumped just before the axel for a little while and it was a little loud. Its pretty mild now.
