Does anyone's exhaust heat shield make noise as the RPM go up in between shifts? What did you do to fix it, cut it off, replace muffler or cat?

Yeah mine does it to drives me nuts. I have to wait till the weather breaks then I'll rivet it or something to tightened it back up.

Cat heat shield?

On mine there are two pieces to the heat shield with 6 welds a piece. I had 4 broken welds.

I cut off the heat shields because the cat housing cracked. Welded the crack and then welded the shields back on. Then painted the whole pipe and cat with high temp paint. (2000F)

There's a heat shield around the cat, there's another heat shield riveted to the cab underside, and another heat shield on the bed itself. I replaced mine, and replaced loose rivets too. It made a difference to me, cuz I like peace & quiet.

Thanks for info, I'm. Have to put it on the lift and get to cutting. I'm just going to take all the shields completely off I think.

My cat shield did it. Rewelded it a couple times and the welds kept breaking. So I ripped the stupid thing iff. No more rattling. No issues either.

Here's my old heat shield under the bed. It shows why I prefer having a heat shield. It's cheaper to sacrifice & replace a heat shield rather than the truck body.
