Default New performance exhaust

Looking to purchase a new exhaust preferably a cat-back....got a budget of about $250 looking for more of a performance exhaust, not as much sound. Any Ideas?

You think I could get a cat-back for 250? Looked into it and they are like 500

Depends on what kind of exhaust you want. If you want a full custom cat-back exhaust then it will cost upwards of $500 but if you aren't going for looks you could just put on a muffler with stock piping and call it good. If you want more than a muffler and want to save money you could buy some piping and make you own system. Other members have done this and only spent around $300. As for a brand you have a few choices...flowmaster, magnaflow, mbrp and gibson to name a few

A true manufactured cat back (Magnaflow type) will be awfully tough for $250.

Muffler setup sure....but full 'system' I doubt it.

At that price point may want to consider custom. A local mom and pop did my dual setup as well as my single side exit for well under $250 each. That was muffler custom piping and tips. When you buy a kit your paying for the name and R&D to make it fit all the stock locations. Thats why they are so expensive and then your limited as to where the pipes exit angle and so forth. If you go custom you can pretty much pick any combo that you want.

Id agree with a custom setup FTW at that price point.
I asked around and found an old skool dirt track guy that owned a muffler shop and wasnt afraid to bend pipe, plus the price was right since I needed cats and wasn't sure if I was going to keep or sell the truck.

He told me he took the kinks out...tightened the engine right up and had a nice drone in the tunnels. I could hear much better throttle response...decided to keep the truck another few years after that lol that Lima engine was bulletproof.

^this

My dual setup out the door was about $165. Found the muffler i wanted on ebay for $45 then took it to him for install he charged $125 to weld it in with custom bent pipes exit after the tire at a 45 with chrome tips. Did the same process with the side exit and the install for that was about $75. Performance difference is not going to be huge on these trucks like you might see with a mustang or muscle car that has lots of untapped potential almost all the ranger motors came from the factory pretty much tapped out. Most exhaust will yeild some improvement but OP don't get your hopes up on getting back some monster gains by buying a "Performance" kit.
