Muffler vs. No Muffler
Hey y'all I would like a little advice about my truck and I've searched the forums but no one seems to have the same set up as I do. So, I have a 1999 Ranger XLT 4x4 4.0L V6. My exhaust was all stock then I gutted the cat (double chambered), lost mpg's, bought a new cat (single chambered exact fit). And now I have the stock pipe after the cat going into a Flowmaster super 44 series muffler, center in, offset out into a y-pipe and 2 1/4" pipe dualed out the back with 3 1/2" tips "cowboy style" (45'd). I'm trying to decide if I want to just eliminate the muffler and run 2 1/2" pipe to the y-pipe or go with a Flowmaster super 10 series muffler with a dual out with the same 2 1/4" pipe. Its kind of deep and a little loud when you get on it but I'm wanting a little louder and maybe deeper (I was thinking the 2 1/2" pipe after the cat to the muffler or to just the y-pipe will help deepness. What do you guys think will sound better and give me what I'm looking for? I wanna keep my same 2 1/4 dual pipes so really I'm just wondering about the 2 1/2 pipe from the cat and whether to put the 10 series or not. Thanks for the help!!
