Default Exhaust Leak?

My truck has stock exhaust. It's quiet and restrictive.

My aunt (who lives next door) has a 91 chevy Corsica that's on its 3rd motor and the last time the mechanics replaced it they did a cruddy job on the exhaust. It has that exhaust leak sound (which makes her 3.1L slant 6 actually sound ok).

One time my friend told me that I have an exhaust leak because of excessive heat coming out from under the cab. You can smell it and feel the heat big time, but it doesn't sound like it. And the check engine light isn't on so it's not throwing off any of the o2 sensors.

Do I actually have an exhaust leak?
How can I diagnose?

I'm not concerned but a second opinion would be much appreciated.

Slant 6 ? That was an older Dodge motor. The Corsica does not have a slant 6.

Unless i'm misidentifying things my truck has 5 cats. 2, just post manifolds, 1 extra after 1 of the post manifold cats and 2 big ones after the 2 downpipes join. I think the leak is coming from the extra cat after 1 of the post manifold cats. I hope I described that well enough. I'll have to put up some pictures later.

Yes. The 3.1l is a 60* OHV V6. The old slant 6 is an inline 6. Not surprising for an old Dodge, some actually had split manifolds (term for an old school oem header), dual exhaust, and 4 barrel carbs. Pretty sure they started out in the Dart, then they actually even used some in pickups. An Uncle in Indiana had a slant 6 in a Valiant with a push-button auto transmission. There were 3 sizes of the slant 6. Last used in 2000. It had a good reputation and following because of durability and reliability.

And another question: will an exhaust leak mess up my exhaust valves?

Not sure about these newer engines but back in the day it was possible to burn the exhaust valve if the leak was too close to the engine. I doubt it will harm your exhaust valves if it is downstream of the first cats.
