Default Loud exhaust? Catalytic convertor maybe?

Im actually looking to quiet my truck down
A bit. It had a flowmaster on and i recently
Replaced it will a standard muffler..but its
Still loud af. The sound just doesnt fit with the
Lil 2.3 4cyl. I think the cat was taken off before
I bought it. If the cat is actually taken off is there anyway
To quiet it down rather than buying a new one? Also jw,
Does removing the cat give more hp and acceleration.

You proly have a pretty bad leak somewhere

And yes the missing cat will add to the loud exhaust

go through the exhaust and replace anything that's bad and put a new cat on

Having no cat only helps at very high rpm but hurts on the low end.
Just get a universal fit one from autozone or eBay, you can get one for less than 100$ if you don't have one in place.

No, it will give you a bit more from a stop.

Adding it will not hurt your mileage. Even the cheaper catalytic converters flow pretty well.

It doesn't. Just makes the truck louder, nothing more. Will not help mpg or hp or tq.
