Vid's SUCK! You can't judge an exhaust by some video you watched on youtube. I've recorded the same exact muffler and exahust setup in different vids.....with VERY different sound results.
I think he expected way too much out of his ranger with a different exhaust rather than what he had. If he's going for that "old school/Harley Davidson type" sound then he'll need to do alot of mods just to even come close. Basicly I think it sounds like he's trying to get that V8 sound out of a V6 and it is possible yes, but it will indeed cost him alot of money.

Look man, Ive heard some more rumble out of those mufflers on other v6's and they sound badass.. And they have pretty much the same setup as I do.. Ofcourse I expected something louder than stock.. Mine seems to be pretty much the same as the stock one, so I know theres something not right.. What im trying to findout is if anybody has the same results. And NO I dont what the "old school/harley davidson type" I think thats annoying. And the V8 sound either, I just want a noticeable good exhaust sound..

Roel.... have someone else drive your truck for you while you're standing on the sidelines. I'm really finding it really hard to believe that flowmaster isn't noticeable at all.

I called the muffler shop guy today and he said the same thing.. He was kind of surprised that the muffler didnt make a sound when I took off that day.. Could my cats be clogged or clogging up??? He said that could be the issue... I witnessed a v6 S10, he put the same damn muffler and his did make fuken nice sound!! The inside of the exhaust tip gets covered in carbon within a day of use.. It gives a rich smell on startup...I wanna lean toward clogged cats but not yet convinced..

Judging by the title, Original 40 w/ 2.5" incoming pipe and a turndown. My least favorite Flowmaster and was disappointed with it especially since I took a Super 40 off of it and the Original's kickass on my '71 chevy. It's nothing compared to the Super 44...hell even the Super 40 on the Ranger. I need to get new Super44 vids now that I found the 'good' camera and have tailpipes again.

Oh ok. You want that deep rumble tone exhaust rather than that sound which I stated earlier. Look I've had several exhaust systems over the years. The only one that really got my attention was the Terminator by flowtech mufflers. It was a single 3 inch inlet, and dual 2.5 inch outlets. I put it 6 inches behind the cab with nothing else. I wasn't loud, but is was extremely deep. Deep enough to where people swore I had a v8 under the hood and deep enough to set off FACTORY INSTALLED car alarms. It sounded really good. Then it rusted out and I went with a flowmaster american thunder 40 series. the same location, but with a side exiting tail pipe. Then i went with a cherry bomb glasspack because of the hanger busting my flowmaster was hitting my drive shaft driving me insane. It has also impressed me too. It sounds like you've got clogged up cats to me. I'll post a photo of my exhaust here shortly.

Sounds good to me... My issue is either my cats or the 2" pipe.. Like I said that s10 sounded badass... Indeed I have a v6 silverado with an original 40 aswell and it sounds killer! So somthing is not working properly on this truck

It aint the pipe size, it's got to be the cats. I'd have either new high flowing cats put on, or have the old ones hollowed out and reinstalled. Check with your local exhaust shop and see what they can do for you. I'll be posting those pics here later on. Right now I have to finish cheching my email and run maintence on my cpu.

whats up cuz, i got 2 stock cats runnin out the back "Y" straight piped. 2.50 " diameter tubing. on a cold start in the morning i wake up my neighbors, itll pop a little bit, just enough to make peoples head turn (which makes it sound more like a V8), that DEEP tone you want and you'll really like it. it sounds orgasmic and you can hear me comin from about half a mile away.

That's a really good deal. I plan on doing that to mine when I get a chance.

That might be a little bit too loud. You don't want to attract the sound police.
