This is the last time i will be online for a while because i am going on my rotc summer cruise so ill try to make this good. haha
I am gonna try not to constantly blow money on little thing with my truck so i can do a big exhaust project. The headers that I am set on are JBA headers(unless someone has better ones im all ears). I know that the 5 cats on the truck dont affect a ton of air flow but the fact is that there is 5! The tubing will be stainless steel that will flow into one large one. The cat will be the Magnaflow high flow cat to keep it legal. Then the flowmaster super 44 will be single in and dual out. Now the F-150 Lightning runs true duals that come out next to eachother. Bad idea with the ranger!!! There is two less cylinders and not as much power for compression! It sounds terrible and it kills low end torque that the 3.0 is made for. I dont even want to run true duals into a dual in dual out superr 44 because it will just add another cat and 8 lbs. Not needed at all. If i run the single in dual out then it will not be the cheap little single to dual tip that i have now for looks. It will be two pipes running out with a purpose, keep the compression for torque and mpg and for more sound than a single!
Im the kind of person that thinks about the moving and working parts as i use them. Everytime I drive i think of how there is still the crappy stock headers that do nothing but direct turbulant air, the 5 cats that have little purpose, the poor weld job done by the shop on my super 44, and the crappy single outlet with a bad chrome dual tip. I want to know that there is quality and thought out plans on the system. I would like to be able to fit it all together on the truck and untatch the piping and muffler after the headers piece by piece. There is a local powder coating shop hat does great black chrome work. Each piece of piping, the muffler, the cover on the cat, and maybe even the headers will be black chrome. No weld jobs on this system, just quality chrome and clamps to protect the work. It the kind of exhaust system that I will keep on the truck even if one day the 3.0 gives out and i stick a 302 in it.
As you can see its a huge project. I think it will be the highlight of the entire truck when it is done... but most of all ill know its there! Hope that was a good expanded explination for ya. It made me more excited to be able to get to work. Be back on the site in a few weeks... Haze gray and underway!
