Default Exaust seal problem

Hey, I'm new to the forum. I am looking for an answer to a problem I have with my exaust. There is a flange type connection after the 3 cats on my truck. I've heard there is a cone type seal in side this connection. Can anyone confirm or disprove this for me and if you have don't it can you tell me if it was as easy as every one said. I will be doing a new exaust down the road but for now I would like to fix this. 2000 ford ranger 3.0. Thanks ahead of time!

I just replaced all four converters on my 2001 4.0. I believe the 4.0 litre system is different than what you describe.(4 converters) There is however, a cone shaped gasket where the mid pipe meets the rear (last) converter. I'd advise you to look up your specific parts on autopartswarehouse or any other comprehensive online auto parts distributor so you can see exactly what type it is. They sell all direct fit O/E type exhaust parts form the manifolds back for all Ranger engine sizes/models so you'll be able to easily identify the exact connection you're referring to. If you have a torch, you should heat up the bolts/nuts to facilitate easy removal, otherwise they can snap right off and you'll be replacing more than you want to. If you do get it separated and find that you need to replace that cone gasket, you can get a new one from just about any auto parts store, like Autozone, Advance Auto parts, Pep Boy's, Napa ect... just bring the old one (what's left of it) with you to match it up.

Thank you. I went to autozone. It's a little lead round piece. I asked a friend who is a mechanic and he said it'll be easy as he'll just use a torch thanks again !

It is easy, I just replaced mine on my 99 Ranger, but I also got two new bolts and the springs for it just as a cya. Ended up coming apart fine but did put the new bolts in. Pretty easy actually.

Picked them up at a muffler shop, they pretty much have a bin of them and rarely know how to charge for just the springs, you can get them cheap as they're pretty much universal.
