Default exhaust options

Hey guys! I have a 96 Ranger. 2.3 liter I have a K&N cold air intake, and a throttlebody spacer. I want to put a good free flowing exhaust. Can I remove the interior of the catalytic converter and use a 60 series flowmaster? Or do I need to do a complete after-cat system?

do not remove your cat or gut the inside they flow a lot better that you think, the same cat is used for the 4.0 and it flow fine for 350 plus HP so it should be more than good for you. get a good catback setup
