My name is Donald I live here in sunny Hawaii, i have a 2011 4X4 ranger with the 4.0L 5 speed auto tranny, all stock. My truck runs good but some kind of extra punch would be nice...i am gonna be driveen from west coast to Mich pulling a enclosed cargo trailer. So your tuner sounds real nice but can you tell me any thing more about it. I have to be DAM sure it will do what i want cuz living in Hawaii makes it hard to chat with myou if it doesn't do what you say it will. I just want to be sure i'm getting my moneys worth...i'm a old fart so don't hold against me if i seem like a ass hole. thanks....Don

I had one of these Superchips on my F350 diesels & once hooked up & working it was vin locked to that truck & would NOT work on any other truck...so does this mean that it doesn't vin lock to first truck it is installed in???? Don

You can retune your truck to stock, and unlock the unit from the truck

I read that if used you can tune two vehicles if they are the same manufacturers. Is this correct and would I be able to say use it on my truck and a buddies?

Hey Donald,
This tuner would definitely give you the extra punch you would need. I used it for almost a year with my 3.0l and it is honestly the best investment I ever made. I could switch out tunes easily, read diagnostic codes, and have live data to help me diagnose problems. I would not even be selling it had I not got kicked out. It helps a TON in towing mode (though running a little higher octane helps as well). I used to pull around a trailer with an ATV on it all the way from NC to KY with no hiccups at all.

As far as the VIN lock. I double checked that it is in fact unlocked from my vehicle (some people forget to do this when they sell) and it is only good for one vehicle tune at a time. This means when you do install it on your truck it is locked to your VIN until you return the settings to "STOCK". You can use it on two vehicles but you have to call Superchips and pay $200. Also, what is great about this is that you can use it on ANY Ford vehicle, not just Rangers. The F-350 Tuner you mentioned is a Diesel vehicle only tuner and probably was not returned to stock when removed from the original truck.
