Sounds like you'll pay 100.00 for a used toilet paper roll! Thats more than going green, You'll be going BROWN!

I would think the toilet paper would somehow get into the oil and then start clogging up the oil passages.

WOW a role of TP holds a whole qt or oil! If they used this in the 60's I would hope our filters we have today are better but that's pretty creative

Yeah I thought that too. Hot oil would definately make it collapse. Maybe in their kit it tell you to drop a log in it and the log acts like a carbon filter

Apparently these things are proven to work, and work very well. There is quite a bit of info out there on these and people getting an oil analysis done to prove that they work. Plus filters are around $1.00 each. Scott individual rolls. lol They've been around since the 30's. A lot of people swear by them. Most people that use them agree that when cars began offering oil filters as an option, the mass produced oil filters don't filter out particles nearly as small as the TP filters do.

The TP doesn't fit in there loosely and the center tubes inside diameter is critical to its proper operation. You actually have to cut or unroll several layers of the TP to make it fit into the filter cannister tightly. It's not a full flow filter like the one on your engine now, it's a bypass filter to add additional cleaning to your oil..

I wonder if effectiveness varies by the brand/quality of the TP and if it's single or double ply.

Years ago on the Discovery Channel I saw similar. On some sort of new ideas/invention show. A guy in Australia had made a similar thing. Supposedly it filtered so well that the oil never goes black..keeps looking like new. However in his case the toilet paper rolls were made special..wound tighter than ordinary toilet paper..I remember that part. Now I don't know about never changing the oil since although it is filtered so well that it keeps looking clean..the viscosity of it would probably still break down in time? But you know this kit using ordinary rolls could be something for someone to try on a well used vehicle. If it doesn't work..T.P. breakup, etc. they be willing to risk it. If it works fine it really would be awesome for all to know. A new oil filter for pennies! And the remote location making changing it very easy and avoiding spilling oil (much) since it can be mounted vertically.

There's a guy on a diesel forum that got 18,000 miles out of his oil and his last oil analysis came back stating the oil was good for another 7000 miles. When you remove the roll of TP, you have to add another quart of oil to the system, so I'm sure that helps keep the oil looking like new as well..

You're supposed to use their replacement filters but everybody uses the rolls of Scott tissue that are sold individually I believe..

I'd run one on my old DD Ranger no problem. It's proven technology. Ask the diesel guys.
