Default Re: keep blowing fuse

To help find a short circuit or something that's blowing a fuse, I made a test device to show me when there's an excessive load on the circuit, without blowing fuses. I used an old headlight and one of my blown fuses. Solder wires to the two terminals of the fuse, and the other ends of the wires to the good filament of the headlight.
Plug this into the offending fuse holder. When there's a normal load, the headlight will only glow. When there's an excessive load, the headlight will be bright, but nothing will be harmed by the overload!
I've even used this trick on my a/c compressor circuit. The compressor worked fine and the headlight glowed, until I found the intermittent short. Then the headlight shined brightly!

I figured it out. The wire for the over drive button on the gear select lever. I just disconected it till i find time to locate the point of the break or replace the wire all together. It was more of a pain in the @ss than anything. But now i have reverse lights and a blower for the defrost and heat since winter is literally around the corner. Thanks for the advice and tip. It may be handy to use again later down the road.
