Default Starting issues..

So it began as a dead battery one morning and I just figured it was something left on over night, so I tried to jump it and nothing. Not turning over or making any noise at all so I start to get suspicious and take the battery down to autozone to test to make sure it's good, they tell me it's really low so they charge it up and test it and battery is fine. They tell me to throw the battery back in and come back to test the alternator. When I got home with a fully charged battery and still nothing so at this point I'm thinking the starter so I take it apart and down to autozone, they test it and tell me it's all good. So when I got home I threw the starter back on and tested the terminals to see if they were getting power while I had someone turn the ignition. And no power from what I could tell is getting to the starter. I checked fuses btw so the problem has to be in between the battery and the starter correct? Some where in that wiring? I'm stumped so if someone could tell me possible problems at this point that would be great thanks

You stated that you were testing to see if you had power terminals while someone was turning the ignition. I'm assuming you didn't get power at the starter at all? If you had no power on the Main 4gauge wire from the battery then its either corrosion on the Terminal @ battery or starter solenoid or the Wire itself has failed. I would take a look the terminals, clean them with a wire brush. If they look good or still no power @ Starter, then replace 4Gauge battery cable. Auto parts stores want to charge you like $80 but if you are comfortable making your own, you can save money. Big Crimpers & Big wire cutter needed. I did a quick search on the web but cant find an exact measurement of how long you will need.

If you do have power at the starter, but no power on the small wire going from solenoid to starter, then its the solenoid. They aren't too expensive

I honestly have no idea to tell you the truth. I was stumped because of what u said before the cable and terminals looked good to me with no corrosion so I was really stumped.. And then my brother in law called me and said to try to start it in neutral bcuz he had the same problem with a clutch switch in his Manual but since mines auto he said I probably have another switch somewhere but u can bypass it by going in N and bam it fired right up in neutral. I then tried it in park after adjusting the HL switch and it worked! Now let me explain why I think it's related to the HL switch... I took the HL switch assembly apart a long time ago trying to fix something and ended up doing something funky to where if I started my car then turned HL on and then turned them off before killing the motor my truck would not turn off.. Weird I know . I discovered it when my gf drove it and couldn't turn it off she turned the key and pulled it out and motor was still running! So I turned off the HL just to see and it somehow killed the motor.... So by some strange electrical mishap my HL are now somehow tied in with ignition .. Sounds stupid and confusing I know. And I should mention I have to turn the HL switch counter clockwise to turn them on now instead of the normal clockwise rotation.

Yeah, That is Fucked up. No where to begin over the web. I would have to be there in person and even then, sounds "busy".

Good luck

Thanks and as of now I'm just kinda pretending its not there and grateful that I actually figured it out enough to start up on a regular basis
