Default Ford won't cover noisy fuel pump replacement under warranty

Note: big edit to my original post.

Just an FYI to anyone who may be wondering.. The replacement of a noisy fuel pump is NOT covered under the Ford warranty where electrical components are included. While I have yet to know for sure, this does seem to imply that a noisy fuel pump is NOT, contrary to popular belief, a symptom that your pump is either faulty, dying/failing, or plugged.

because the fuel pump isnt part of the powertrain....only the engine, trans, tcase, and axles are covered under the power train....the fuel pump falls under the bumper to bumper warrenty...

Good point. Also, to the OP, what is your mileage? When I bought my 08' Ranger, they were running deals, and I got the bumper-to-bumper warranty at no extra charge for 5 years/60,000 miles vs. the regular 3 year/36,000 mile one. The last point I'd like to make is noise isn't a legitimate excuse for warranty replacement. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but warranty replacement is for parts broken not "parts that don't meet customer expectation".

I had the same noise problem. I bought a pump (not the whole unit) off of ebay and installed it. I can try to find the link to the seller for you if you like.

The warranty in question (Premium Care in Canada, and presumably Bumper-to-Bumper in the US) covers everything that doesn't require routine maintenance, including electrical components.

The truck in question has 70,000 km (43,000 miles). The warranty was purchased at 65,000 km (40,000 miles). Again, the warranty covers electrical components. The noise itself is NOT, as you're implying, the primary concern in most cases, but the unknown symptom behind it - see edited post.

DIY repairs are not recommended while your vehicle is under warranty, as you risk such warranty becoming void. Thanks just the same.

I didn't catch the mileage. I have never bought a vehicle with an existing warranty so I didn't even think about that.
