On the door jam area where the door latches. Spraying it will WD-40 also works to free it up

the switch is in the door latch. its a very common problem that can often times be remedied with WD-40. shoot some WD-40 into the latch and open and shut the door several times to work it in. it should clear up the issue. i had this issue several years ago, not knowing about the WD-40 trick at the time i replaced the door latch assembly that cost about $100 if i remember correctly only to have the door ajar light problem come back just a couple months later. i found out about the WD-40 trick and tried it and its been fine since. lol sorry, i was kinda rambling there.

edit: i just so happen to have a pic of the latch assembly. the part my thumb is on is the switch.

Just a slight addition that worked for me to get that 'door ajar' light off. I kept having it turn on when i'd take a corner, and I'd slam doors too to get it off. One day, I discovered that my passenger side ext. cab door wasn't properly shut, and wiggled quite a bit. I slammed it good n hard, and no probs since
