Default Dual batteries

Has anyone tried putting two batteries with an isolator in their ranger? If so, where did you put the extra battery?

Have though about it. I was going to put it in my toolbox, or just in the bed using a batt. box made for boats. I put the idea on the back burners though , after the winch motor burnt up and I don't really need the extra batt. now.

On this site

http://www.tombarcia.net/Truck/DualBatt/DualBattery.htm

the guy says

The best place to mount the battery in a 2000 Ranger was behind the passenger headlight. This requires removal of the air box, replacing it with a 70mm MAF adapter and a K&N RU-3130 cone filter. This leaves enough room for an Optima yellow top D51 either standing up or on it’s side. I chose on it’s side so it would be more stable for off-roading.
I haven't tried it or anything, just passing along some found info.
