Default HIDs and Subwoofer with Amp

Does anyone have a subwoofer and HIDs in their Ranger? I am just trying to see if it would be using too much of the battery power to have both HIDs hooked up with the harness and a subwoofer with an amp hooked up to the battery. Any help would be great. Thanks.

You shouldnt have a problem being that hids generally require less power than stock halogens

Probably just a 10" sub and either a 600w or 1000w amp, no higher than that though.

Well, I know that they require less power, but at startup don't they tend to draw in high wattage to warm them up?

Not enough for a sustained period to worry about even then they probably pull about the same as a halogen at startup

So even running the HIDs directly to the battery through a harness and having an amp hooked up it should be fine?

Should be if you are concerned upgrade to an explorer 130amp alternator and I would be surprised if you have any problems

Thank you.

I'm just curious as to if anyone has this set up to see how they did it/how well it works or any issues they have if any.

HID's use less power than your factory headlights. HID's are 35 watts. Your stock low beams are 65 watts. You're gaining extra power, not using more.

And your battery has nothing to do with this. It's your alternator that you would exceeding the capacity of since that is where the power comes from with the engine running. The factory alternator is probably 90 amps.

Are your HIDs Hi/Lo or are they just low?

I have a 2010 2.3 stik shift xl reg cab

I am running 4 total 35 watt slim ballasts for heads and fogs, 2 amps one is a 400 peak watts amp and the other one is a mono 800 peak watts for my 10 inch sub. I like to bump it and run all 4 ballasts on at the same time for at least 80 minute drive everyday and no problems here.
