Hey all;

1999 Ford Ranger XLT

Noticed this morning that the headlights are flashing off / on. Truck hasn't been driven in about a week. Turned the truck over and when the low beams are on they're fine. Turn the truck off and the lights begin flashing again. Any suggestions?

okay, had another look, disconnected part XL2T-15A270-AB which apparently is the daytime running lights relay? Located under the driver side bumper on the front of the truck. This part was really hot but once disconnected, the headlights stopped flashing. Low / High beams work fine, everything else seems to function normally. Do I need to keep this? Not really sure what this part does exactly so any suggestions are welcome.

I had a 2002 ranger, I am assuming its the same as the 99, was the module in front of the front drivers side tire? Then yes, that's the daytime running light (DRL) module. All it does is turn the headlights on while your driving with the headlight switch off. This is required my law in some locations. The one in my 2002 went, and I noticed in the reflection on the vehicle in front of me that my headlights were flickering. I replaced the DRL module, and got one from the local auto wrecker for $50. This could be the problem, I would replace it, but it still could be something else.
