Default Low beam/High beams stopped working.

After searching the threads and not finding an answer to my electrical issue, I hope someone here can help...

I was driving down a side street in the rain last night and had a hard time seeing. I held the "flash to pass" for only a few seconds and both headlights died. The console shows the hi-beam light, even when the low-beams should be on.

The fog lights don't turn on, probably because the truck thinks the hi-beams are on.

I pulled out the headlights to check the bulb; it looked fine.
I have no idea which fuses to check.

Anyone have the slightest clue WFT is going on???

After more searching, I found the 2004 wiring diagrams.

I will check out the following fuses: 23, 14, 4, 3.

If they are all good, perhaps its the switch?

Ok.. Checked the listed fuses. All appear good. I guess the next step is ensuring that my bulbs are actually burnt out?

A new signal switch is 127 bucks... I'd really like to avoid that cost...

Well Gang,

My headlights now work. The visual inspection of the bulbs apparently wasn't enough to determine if they were burnt out or not.

Both my bulbs burnt out at the exactly the same time... odd.

So, if anyone ever gets the high-beam indicator on the console, and it doesn't turn off, and the headlights don't work, both bulbs are burnt out.

I want to thank duddadu for posting his results, my 99 did the exact same thing, pouring rain at night and noticed I had both low beams out. I turned on my high-beams hoping they would get me home and they lasted about 3 seconds and went out together as well. All 3 fuses were fine and I was just SURE I had an electrical nightmare on my hands. Nope, 2 FIFTEEN year old $10 bulbs blew.(I bought her brand new) Awesome day, awesome forum, awesome truck. I'll drive that beater for 15 more. Thanks all!!!!

BTW I'm choosing to bump this old thread because if I'm not mistaken 98-2011 was essentially the same truck, I have a 99 and just now had this specific issue, and this thread was the top result in Google.
