The bulb holders for the first time, are on there pretty freakin' tight! Even after being removed a couple times, they're in there good! I've begun to just take the pliers to 'em just to save my fingers!

They wouldnt be bad if they were taller so you could grab a hold of them better

That's awsome, thanks. I see also that the guages themselves can be purchased separately as well. Do you know if I can get any cool ones aftermarket without the tach, either in white or maybe carbon fiber etc. I've searched the web but haven't been able to find anything yet. Once again , any help is appreciated!

Would replacing the bulbs with purple LEDs work well?

Just did this to my 2003 and the 4 screws for the bottom cover (with the two for the hood release) were NOT 7mm but star head screws! Thought I would make sure everyone knows some may be different than noted in the HOWTO! By the way it was great to have the HOWTO otherwise I probably would not have tried it! Thanks STL!!!!!!!!

Good to know. I'll be doing this as soon as it warms up enough.

Couple more things to note. I was able to replace the 5 bulbs without removing the instrument cluster. After removing 4 screws to cluster, gently pull it out and tip upwards. At the base of the cluster is the shifter cable - pop that out. You should than be able to reach all 5 without any problems. Sorta a pain in the ass to get back in (shifter cable) but I also didn't see how it was positioned in the first place. Overall time - 1 hour with 2 smoke breaks.

I'm trying to replace a check engine light. I followed these instructions successfully, but the check engine light is under a gray tab (not black) and does not seem to untwist.

Sorry, my mistake. The gray sockets unscrew just fine. Oddly, my bulb was fine too, and when I put it back in, it began to work again. Must have been tarnish on the contacts.

So there 194 miniature wedge bulbs? If so I'm getting Blue LEDs for it. Anybody have night shots of LED Cluster?

Default instrument cluster

After removing the two 7mm screws from radio cluster cover plastic wouldn't come off (same with cluster cover) is there pins or something that hold plastic on or is there a special tool to get the parts off-thanks Rich

I thought the same thing. There are metal clips at the edges that hold it, but if you can get a grip on it, it should pop free and pull out.
