Truck won't start, ticking from fuse box - How to test
Ok, truck was running fine drove home from work and parked to run inside and let the dog out before running to town to get some parts for my 4wheeler....so came outside after about 15 minutes and the truck would not turn over.
There was a ticking coming from the passenger side fuse box. I checked all the fuses and none appear to be blown, so i started testing stuff.
If i turn the key back to the accessory position everything works (locks radio lights etc). Turn the key to run or start and i get nothing at all, except the ticking from the fuse panel.
My 30 minutes of research shows that this can be caused by a few items - I would appreciate any thoughts on the issue and testing. Possible culprits are
1. Bad battery, which seems strange since i have full power in accessory mode?
2. Bad battery cable - the terminals and connectors are clean.
3. Bad relay in the fuse panel.
4. Bad fuse that doesn't appear blown out.
So, I am taking the battery to be tested but it seems strange that i would have partial power. How can i go about testing the relay and wires without just replacing stuff? Again any suggestions as to the cause are appreciated, i luckily don't have to go to work tomorrow so can fix my truck and then maybe get my 4wheeler wheel bearings replaced.

See if you can get a jump. If it starts the battery is shot.

A battery can still have 12.6+ volts, but can't supply the current needed for starting.

It was the battery...jumped it and fired right up. Battery tested 100% charged but half dead cells.
It seems strange to me, every other vehicle battery i have had just dies, not power some things. Thanks for the help.
