Default Questions about Dome/Map Light...

Wiring in a music interface. Before removal of the old light, it worked fine. Now as I try to install the interface and the LED light, there isn't any power running to the wires. The fuse is fine, so thats not a problem. Any help?

The two exposed wires are the ones im splicing onto, the ones that have no power.

The thing is, there isn't any power going to the wires at all. If the black boxes were some king of extra step, there would (hopefully) at least be power still running to the wires. Is there any extra relay or fuse before it gets to the actual fuse in the fuse box?

The black blocks are part of the positive wires....the isolate the hot from the sheet metal that is the ground. One's for the power to the dome to turn on when doors opened...the other is the constant power to power the dome light.

Now...what exactly are those new wires supposed to be going to? Ground? What are they powering? I'm just confused as to why those extra wires were routed up there?

What I was hoping to do was get power from the two stripped wires to go to the music interface, then from the interface two wires go to the actual light. Then the interface will control whether the light plays with the music or stays on constantly. And it will only do this if the switch is turned on or the doors are open. So these wires aren't just normal +- wires?

Why would you want the light on with the music playing?

When It's on and the music is too, it will beat with the bass. And I can switch it from music to just on when activated, just like normal operation. Im just putting it in for the hell of it.

Got it to work. Installed on the Banger just for the hell of it. Works like a normal dome light with switch set to full, then set to music to beat to bass. Can turn it on and off with dimmer switch for interior lights

YouTube- Ford Ranger dome light music interface
When I read the description, I thought "ricer" and "gay". But then seeing the vid. Dangit...I wanna do it!! Now....to implement it somewhere...

Does it light up in the inside when it's illuminated and the beats hit? Would you mind posting links to "kits" or how-to do it?? I'm a noob when it comes to anything other than basic audio. lol.

Yeah, it does light up the interior. The vid doesn't do it justice. I thought it was gonna be kinda rice too, but I got the thing for $3 and decided why not, since it can be turned solid when there's power, like when the doors open.

It was super easy though, I'll post a how too for it.

The interface was only one of those cigarette lighter powered Neon Light/Interface kits. Hardwired it so it can't be seen, and substituted the neon light for my dome light.

And with those 2 wires from before, one was the power for when the doors were open and when the switch was on, and the other didn't do anything, not even a ground. Confused me.
