Ok so its been a while, and noticed this thread come back up. I managed to get a 98 2.5L guage cluster with tach and have already installed in my 96 2.3L. After a while I noticed 3 problems.

1) The Fuel Reset light comes on instead of Door Ajar.
2) My Check Enigne light wont work with new bulbs. I know there is a code.
3) The speedo reads faster than actual. consistantly get higher when faster.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Default Re: Guage Cluster Swap

Read the "gauge Cluster swap" with interest. I am restoring a 1992 2.3 5-speed and would like to know if i can install a cluster with a tach. Is so, what will fit it and what has to be done.

Also, it seems that Ford no longer carries the circuit board that plugs into the cluster for the gas gauge. Anyone know what will fit?

Thanks

Ok, thanks to you guys, I have installed a set of gauges with tachometer into my 1992 ranger 2.3 and 5-speed that did not have a tachometer.

it was a drop in as far as i can tell. I have not checked every light but all the gauges work as well as the tachometer. No pin to swap or boards to swap.

I was able to see that the high beam worked as did the turn signals. I will be able to check other bulbs after it get dark.

The one thing I can not tell you is what year or what the donor vehicle was. It was given to me by a mechanic that replaced the gauges because his sister said the gas gauge was not working right. so far, it works for me.

I was able to use my speedometer so the original 52K miles are shown. I could have used the head with the 45K miles on it because no won will believe that it only has 52K anyway. If anyone needs any help on theirs, just email me at allegro1@juno.com
