Default Cluster Wiring

I am currently working on swapping a 2003 Ranger cluster into my 1996.
From everything I can tell, it just involves swaping a few pins around to get everything to work correctly. Does anyone have more information?

I am also looking for the 2003 wiring diagrams for the cluster connectors.

i just did mine in my 95 a few weeks ago. for me, it was just swapping the door ajar light and the fuel reset. two wires, a-b and b-a. really simple. i just can't remember which ones they were at the moment....

Cool. I have that info. Anything else? I am planning to swap odometers. Do I need to swap the temperature gauge internals? I hear they changed after 97 with the internal wiring. I also can't see the fuel inertia cutoff indicator on the 03 cluster. Is that gone?

Not relevant, but did you have to swap all the pins on your 95? From what I have learned they are wired backwards from newer rangers.

i only swapped the two wires, and my water temp gauge. when i first put my new cluster in, the water temp pegged after about a minute of running. nothing else was changed. the fuel cutoff is the fuel reset light. it will be the one that comes on when the door opens before swapping the wires.

Finished my swap. Here is what I had to do to put a 2003 cluster in a 1996.

1. Move the check engine light pin.
2. Swap the door ajar and fuel reset pins.
3. Swap temperature gauges
4. Swap odometers

Everything else was plug and play.

you can also just remove the resistor and put it on the newer temp sensor
