On when slow or stopped
I am sure this is possible but I can't come up with any viable ways to do it. I have a 2000 Ranger that had an electric fan, I couldn't afford that fan (nor find it) so I put two smaller ones on it... I would like to charge a relay to power the fan when the a/c is on while the vehicle is going less than oh, say 30 or so, or stopped. There is no reason the fan should run while the A/C is on while moving, there is plenty of air going through it and the radiator. I know this because I drove quite a while with no fan and didn't realize it until I was waiting in the bank drive-thru.
The brake switch won't work for this, I thought about it and if I'm tapping the brake for any reason I don't want to hear the fan whirring up... I thought about tapping the GEM for speed, but wouldn't know where to start on that one. The cruise control knows to not work below 35, maybe the pulses aren't fast enough, idk.
Why would I do this? I can feel the fans kick on while on the highway... one fan, meh, both, wow. it puts a helluva draw on the system. Right now I have two temp switches, one on the radiator and one on the condenser. It kind of works, but not as well as I'd like.
