Default Weird electrical issue

Alright, so whenever I turn my light switch to the middle position, the wipers and sprayer start going, this is so not cool lol. Also does it when switch turned all the way to the right. Anyone had this before?

06, 4.0, only mod is a head unit but that was a long time ago and this issue just started today.

Also, just tested throwing the washer sprayer button in, it lights up the lights just like moving the headlight switch would.....

The multifunction switch is bad. Remove and replace. Yes, that entire stick on the side of the column.

You have a short where the wires in your headlight switch are able to ground the wires in your wiper switch. Pull the bottom of your dash off and take a took for rubbed wires.

Ah ok cool! Thanks! I was hoping it was an easy fix like that.

Probably bouncing through the muddy back road that knocked something loose in there. I'll order a new one and see if it helps.

Now does anyone know what fuse is the wiper fuse? Since I gotta drive in the dark, I wanna disable the wipers.

And don't tell me to check my owners manual cause god only knows where it is

It should be in your owners manual which fuse is which, but lucky for you, they are here on the forum.

Ford Ranger Owners Manuals

It's most likely in a wire, so i would check those first, especially around attachment points or where in passes through something. Then I'd worry about replacing switches.

It isn't anything grounding, It isn't anything shorting out, it isn't rubbed wires, it isn't in the headlight switch, it isn't behind the dash. It is exactly what I posted before.

How is it this? Does it ground through the switch for the headlight and the wipers? I have never seen one turn on the other. But that is my experience.

Headlight switch has to go into multifunction switch for high beams. Makes sense now that I think about it.

Ground has nothing to do with this. It is the contacts in the multifunction switch crossing eachother. The headlight circuit is crossing into the wiper and washing circuit inside the multifunction switch. This happens all the time.

on pulling the fuse you should be able to look on the fuse panel cover and it should have a diagram if you need to un hook it. or get a test light and turn your wipers on and find the one that lights up when you turn the wipers on.

Ford sucks at this in the newer trucks...it doesn't say.
