Alternator/Battery problem, NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, so, Alternator went bad (fell apart since the bolts rattled out) got it replaced with another alternator that was bad (re-man), got another, charged battery and everything was perfect. drove it yesterday and it died on me. The battery is good running at about 12.5-13v and alternator is good, had both checked. the battery light is on now and i don't know what to do. i cleaned all the connections and everything is fine. i did read somewhere on here to check a fuse, BUT WHAT FUSE DO I CHECK. also i have what looks to be a ground that's come loose and idk if it has to do with the battery/alternator but can someone help me figure out what it connects to? i have the nut i found sitting on the frame. pics are to follow.

Ok a few things...
That ground strap is just for grounding the hood. Nothing to do with your problem. You should fix it eventually, but pretend it isn't there for now. We have bigger fish to fry.
The battery light comes on when the key is ON and the alternator is not generating power. Verify the alternator is not generating power by checking the battery voltage with the engine running vs the engine off. Engine off, a healthy battery should be 12.5ish. Engine running, it should be 13.5 to 14.5 volts.
There is a fuse in the power distro box under the hood marked as "alternator" in the manual. Also make sure all the connections on the alternator are complete and clean.
I have to go to a few meetings and save humanity. Back a little later to check in.

Re: Alternator/Battery problem, NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That ground strap is your engine to chassis ground. The starter has a dedicated ground and power will transfer that way too.
The battery light is driven by the single wire connection on the alternator, this crappy connector is not weather sealed. The wire tends to corrode causing the light to come on, try wiggle this little single wire on the alt and check if the light goes out. As long as you are in the 13's at idle you have no worries about driving.
The alternator does have a fuse I dont know which one it is for 94. As this only goes back to 96 https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp

Re: Alternator/Battery problem, NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ya i had the alt/battery checked at O'Reiley's about 4 times now, about 30% power coming from alt. all connections are clean. the other day when my truck shat on me the battery light came on and i noticed the main plug to the alt rattled out. i cleaned everything with contact cleaner and ziptied the plug in snuggly. the only problem i'm having now is this inline fuse. it's my only solution at the moment and it's impossible to find w/o a manual. i'll spend a few more hours looking but if someone has this year's manual i'd greatly appreciate some insight of where the fuse would be. be back in a bit with more info

Re: Alternator/Battery problem, NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
all fixed, I don't know what i did to fix it to be honest. ground wire to alt was somewhat corroded, cleaned EVERYTHING with contact cleaner and had a bad 15a fuse in the box under the hood, changed that and now everything's fine.
Found out on my year(?), engine size(?) there ARE NO inline fuses from alternator to battery, well from what i speculated. Thank you everyone with your insight and I'll look forward to you guys for valve cover replacement =].

OK now, what does this strap connect to? having trouble finding it.

It's the fuse that fixed it.

Re: Alternator/Battery problem, NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was probably on a hinge or bolt that's on the hood.
