Default No headlights- can the switch be tested?

I bought a 1988 Ford Ranger 4x4 the other day. It was a repo owned by a bank. Drove it home, then realized later that evening that the headlights dont work.
There are also several other things not working, such as the speedometer and the fuel gauge. Probably not related, but throwing it out there.
Is there a way to test or bypass the headlight switch? I'd like to rule out wiring issues somehow before I dive into that mess.

The speedometer also doesnt work. Not sure if that helps narrow anything down, but I thought I'd throw that out there. The tachometer and temperature gauges work on the dash cluster.

Yep. Checked all fuses. Tested the plug at the fender and it had no power. Dismantled the dash to get to the switch and am I'm process of testing it. Made jumper wires and have split the switch from the plug to test it. Ran outta daylight before I could check much else.

Turns out it was the dimmer switch in the column. Not that I got any help here, but hopefully somebody else can find my findings useful.
