Default Wiring piece melted at signal switch

1988 XLT

I've been having problems with my headlights flashing randomly, and one time even going completely dark after I turned my brights on and off.

I narrowed it down to my turn signal switch in the steering column. Removed it today, and the plastic in the wiring piece that connects to it was burned and melted.

I'm going to replace the signal switch just to be safe, but does anyone know where online I can find a replacement for the wiring plug piece? Autozone and the Ford dealer don't carry it.

Is it easy to remove and re-install that particular set of wiring? It seems to go down through the steering column somewhere under the dash..

Just a note, I've never worked on electrical stuff before.

Replaced with the new Airtex parts and temporary twist-on wire connectors:
