Newbi Question: Buzzer, beeping when car is off, key is out, light off and door close
Hi Everyone,
i just got a 98 Ranger today and there is this random problem:
the car was beeping when car is already off, key is out, light off and door close as if i have turned on the head light with the key is out...
any one had this before?

inside your key switch there is a mini switch that the key hits when you insert it... shoot a LITTLE teflon lube... this isnt the park dont use wd40.... and move your key in and out til it stops buzzing, if this doesnt work after 17 hours get a new key switch... kidding on the 17 just give it a good try

my truck does this as well. sept it won't beep when the door is closed. i think its were the key slot is worn from age. so far i haven't found a solution to this problem yet either. have u tried getting the key slot and moving it within its setting? thats the only way i could get mine to quit. or u could take the fuse out. but if its wired like mine u might lose your interior light. hoped this helped.

teflon lube? i might give that a try.  thank u. that key switch some days annoys me to death. i'll just be getting out of the truck and it will start buzzing out of no where. lol

mine has a god awful beeping when the door is open..... was like this when i bought it 6 months ago. Are you guys saying its not supposed to do this.....?

yes and no. i believe its suppose to beep just when your key is in the ignition and u have the door open. but were mine beeps so much i'm not sure if it pose to beep then or when the door is just open or another time.

You don't want your ignition wet there is particular lubricant for locks also HEET brand lock thaw is good if you get any lock moist it will only break down faster plus wd40 isn't that great it just has a good name I always preferred LPS and they have a different lube for almost any job be it a little grease for your garage door or a sophisticated crane or something

it got better, it beeps when the door is open and the key is out of the ignition. it stops beeping when i close the door.
also i notice that sometime when i drive, the dome light some time flickers, so i am wondering if there is a door close sensor that i can look at, if so, where is it and can anyone show me some picture? many thanks

The door switches are located on the side of the dash if the some light is turning on it could be the switch for the lights or the switch on the some light try turning the dash lights down a little and see if that works it could be a bad switch somewhere it is a ford doing a 300 mile roundtrip this morning in the ranger on a fresh rebuild wish me luck
