I'm looking for any help with this issue i am having, of not having any reading on my temp gauge. I just replaced my MAF sensor after having codes and a check engine light on. The temp gauge didn't work for me before and after that replacement at all. I really don't have any idea what to do next to fix this problem? Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks Russ

Your thermostat is stuck open. It happened to mine 2 months ago!

What do you suggest i do flush the system? Get a new thermostat? Is replacing one hard to do?

Its possible the temperature gauge sending unit went bad, these sensors can fail.

Just did a thermostat, still nothing on gauge. I'm thinking about replacing the two temp sensors next? Any other idea's?

Try the temp sensor 1st, its unlikely the gauge is bad. Make sure there isn't a break in the wiring or plug going to the sensor.

I just took the truck on a ride for 15mins and i noticed that the temp gauge moved now. It didn't move much but it moved. This tells me that my gauge itself is working its just not getting a full signal to go where it needs to. I'm going to replace the temp senors next witch one should i do first? My truck i believe has 2.

Not sure which one is for the gauge, I would go to a local Ford Dealer Parts Dept for info on the one controlling the gauge, they will be able to look up the correct one and usually be able to show you a diagram or image of the location.

Now I've done the coolant temp sensor. Still nothing on gauge. And i exchanged my MAF sensor just to be on the safe side. Still nothing changing.

Electrical problems are never fun or easy to diagnose !! You changed the obvious parts including the thermostat. I'm at a loss. Just be sure there is no short in the wiring going to the gauge is my only other suggestion ?

Cruise control stopped working. Check engine light on door ajar light on.

Well got the cruise working, the cable was disconnected. I did notice a wire tie not a hose clamp on my intake hose right before my MAF sensor. I since have replaced it with a hose clamp. I don't know for sure if it was leaking but i think it was very possible. The truck isn't doing anything funny, its idling OK gas mileage seems normal, i just have the same check engine light P0171 and P0174. I haven't driven the truck much since i repaired the air leak. And since repairing the leak i leak tested the system with a propane torch and found nothing. Since the truck is running OK I'm hesitant to reset the ECU manually because the truck generally will run bad after resetting it. I do believe the ECU will reset its self after so many miles driven? but I'm not 100% on that, does any know?

Just got a temp sender sensor. Now i have a temp gauge at this point. I'm wondering if its also connected to my check engine light being on P0171&P0174? I'll have to see and drive it wail.

That's good news !!, at least the temp gauge is working again, hopefully the faulty temp sensor was the cause of the check engine light also.
